Kansas City, MO – Former Wagner College football standout Chris Williams has signed with the Kansas City Chiefs.
The reigning Super Bowl champions picked up the defensive tackle earlier this week as part of a number of roster moves.
Williams appeared in five games for the Indianapolis Colts during the 2022 season, making two tackles in the process. The former All-NEC defensive tackle will enter his third NFL season in 2023. He's appeared in 13 games with the Colts over three seasons, with 107 total defensive snaps and 13 special teams snaps. During that span, he recorded six total tackles and one quarterback hit.
A strong playmaker in the middle of Wagner's defense, Williams earned his second consecutive All-NEC honor and first appearance on the first team in 2019. Williams jumped on the scene for NFL scouts following his senior season, when he participated in the prestigious East-West Shrine Bowl alongside his teammate
Cam Gill. Williams dominated opposing offensive lines all season, finishing with 62 tackles, including four sacks and 11.5 tackles for loss. Williams recorded two sacks in Wagner's victory over LIU in 2019 and led the Green and White with 11 total tackles in the 2019 season-opener at FBS member UConn.
Williams is the third former Seahawk to sign a new contract in the NFL this season. Most recently, defensive end
Titus Leo was selected by the Indianapolis Colts in the sixth round of the 2023 NFL Draft, becoming the highest draft pick in school history. Additionally, former Wagner College All-American and Super Bowl Champion Cam Gill re-signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers earlier this offseason.
In total, four former Seahawks were under contract in the NFL during the 2022 season in Williams, Gill, former Super Bowl champion Greg Senat, and veteran linebacker Julian Stanford.
