Hilary Visiting Assistant Professor of Theology and Ethics at Memphis Theological Seminary. Her PhD is in Theological Studies from Vanderbilt University with a minor in Religion, Psychology and Culture and a graduate certificate in Women's and Gender Studies. She has an MDiv from Anabaptist Mennonite Biblical Seminary in Theology & Ethics with a concentration in Peace Studies. Broadly speaking, she is interested in the relationship of traumatic experience to religious faith, praxis and movements for liberation. Her research tends to the intersection of feminist theologies (broadly conceived), ritual theory, trauma theory and theo-poetics. It is deeply informed by her ongoing work with survivors of sexualized violence and her previous collaboration through Christian Peacemaker Teams with local organizers in Iraqi Kurdistan striving for just peace in the midst of relentless war. Hilary is the Director of Theological Integrity for Into Account, an organization that supports survivors of sexual violence in communities of faith. Through Into Account, she is also the director of Our Stories Untold, a blog that provokes conversation about sexualized violence in religious contexts.
