In recent years, dietary fatty acids have been extensively evaluated for nutritional as well as cosmetic benefits. Among the dietary fats, the omega-3 (ω3) and omega-6 (ω6) forms of polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) have been found to exhibit many biological functions in the skin such as prevention of transepidermal water loss, maintenance of the stratum corneum epidermal barrier, and disruption of melanogenesis in epidermal melanocytes. In this study, we examined the effect of chia seed extract, high in ω3 (linolenic acid) and ω6 (linoleic acid) PUFAs, for its capacity to affect melanogenesis. Chia seed extract was shown to inhibit melanin biosynthesis in Melan-a cells; however, linoleic and α-linolenic acids alone did not effectively reduce melanin content. Further investigation demonstrated that chia seed extract in combination with pomegranate fruit extract had a synergistic effect on the inhibition of melanin biosynthesis with no corresponding effect on tyrosinase activity. Carapa procera (Meliaceae) is currently used plant in Senegalese traditional medicine. This study relates to the evaluation of the anti-inflammatory effect of the seed of Carapa procera. The aim of this work was not only to show the effect of the seed of Carapa procera extract on inflammation, but also to identify the active ingredients. The experimental approach used to assess the anti-inflammatory effect of the various extracts was the evaluation of the evolution of the rat paw oedema caused by intraplantar injection of carrageenan, a Rev. CAMES – Sciences Struct. Mat. Vol. 1, Dec. 2013 18 Mbaye Diaw DIOUM et al phlogogenic agent known to induce inflammatory foci.Wistar rats, divided into groups of five and fasted for 16 hours, were used for this study. The in vivo evaluation of the non-polar and polar extracts, allowed us to localize the antiinflammatory effect in the non-polar fractions. Moreover, we have shown that the unsaponifiables were responsible for the anti-inflammatory ...
Introduction: P. lappacea is a plant used in traditional medicine, in the regions of Niamey and Tillaberi, as anti-hemorrhoids. It contains tannins, sterols, triterpenes, saponosides, mucilages, anthracene derivatives, oses and holosides for which it is necessary to appreciate the activities relating to the medicinal virtues. Objective: To contribute to the phytochemical and pharmacological study of Pupalia lappacea, through the semi-quantitative estimation of phytocomposés and the research of the antiradical power of its various extracts. Methodology: Phytochemical screening, semiquantitative estimation and a study of the antioxidant activity of phytocomposites were carried out by thin layer chromatography (TLC) from extracts obtained with increasing polarity solvents. Results: All P. lappacea extracts contain a large number of bioactive chemical compounds. Substances with anti-haemorrhoidal activity (phenolic compounds, tannins) are found mainly in the aqueous extracts (digested, decoct exhausted) and the methanolic extract. The strongest antiradical activity observed with the digest and the spent decoction after migration in the solvent system. Ethyl acetate-Methyl ethyl ketone-Formic acid-Water (5-3-1-1) would be linked to phenolic compounds. A less severe free radical activity, probably due to terpenic substances, was observed with the BAW solvent system (60-15-25). The extract corresponding to the traditional (decocted) use of P. lappacea also has low antioxidant activity. Conclusion: The use of P. lappacea as anti-hemorrhoid is justified. However, the digest and the spent decoction would have greater anti-hemorrhoidal properties than those of the decoction obtained

ANTI ULCER ACTIVITY OF PRICKLY PEAR (OPUNTIA FICUS INDICA) CLADODES EXTRACTS.2018 •
The medicinal valorization of prickly pear has been evaluated by the survey of the anti-ulcer of the some functional compounds of the plant. The antiulcer activity has been valued, in vivo, on animal model whose ulceration has been provoked by ethanol. Resulted macroscopic and microscopic exams of the stomachs of rats, showed that the powder of cladodes as well as purified mucilage, possess a protective action against ulceration. When these compounds are administered at curative title, the organism doesn\'t manage to regenerate completely the damages provoked by the ethanol. These results have been confirmed besides by the survey of superoxide dismutase (SOD) activities, after purification. The SOD activities were normal among the rat?s witnesses and those treated by the excerpts at preventive title. On the other hand the ulcerous rats and those treated to preventive title present some SOD activities more elevated.
