Chemical composition and 13C NMR spectroscopic characterisation of ulvans from Ulva (Ulvales, Chlorophyta1999 •
The chemical composition and structures of several ulvan extracts isolated from various Ulva species were studied. They were all composed mainly of rhamnose, glucuronic acid, xylose, glucose and sulphate with smaller amounts of iduronic acid and traces of galactose. Proteins were also present, most likely as contaminants. Precise quantification of the uronic acid content by chemical-enzymatic hydrolysis coupled to HPAEC-PAD analysis and by colorimetry was not achieved, most likely due to the incomplete hydrolysis of glucuronan segments, inadequate HPAEC-pulsed-amperometric response factor for iduronic acid and to a possible differential colorimetric response of the two uronic acids. 13C NMR spectroscopic investigation of different ulvans demonstrated that they were all based on ulvanobiuronic acid 3-sulphate A and B repeating units [β-D-Glc pA-(1->4)-α-L-Rhap3S and α-L-IdopA-(1->4)-α-L-Rha p3S, respectively] as well as contiguous β 1->4 linked D-glucuronic acids possibly occurring either in ulvan or as a separate glucuronan. Marked variations in the content of the repeating structures were seen among the different samples. However, due to the limited number of samples studied, no conclusion was reached concerning the effects of species and ecophysiological conditions on the chemistry of ulvan.

Research Article Phylogenetic relationships of Ulva populations in the northern Coasts of the Persian Gulf and Oman Sea based on molecular analyses2022 •
Genus Ulva includes edible seaweed species with extensive morphological overlaps, plasticity, and intra specific variation, making it taxonomically difficult to classify. Ulva species occur in the Persian Gulf, and Oman Sea, but there is no detailed information on their genetic structure, diversity, as well as species relationships. Aims of the present study were to: (1) identify existing species of the genus Ulva in selected areas of the Persian Gulf and Oman Sea, and (2) illustrate species relationships by a combination of morpho-anatomical and molecular data. Based on morphological features, 10 Ulva species were identified which were confirmed by their DNA homology with the reported taxa. The Ulva species were delineated using a combination of morphological, anatomical and molecular data (ISSR, SCoT, ITS, rbcL, and tufA region sequences). AMOVA revealed species genetic differentiation and a higher level of intra-specific diversity in Ulva. The species relationship is discussed based on genetic and morphological data. A kind of divergent selection on morphological characters and in response to geographical coordinates is suggested.

Diversity of Ulotrichales from the Satpura Ranges of Nandurbar District, Maharashtra, IndiaIn the present research work, a total of 12 species belonging to 4 genera of Ulotrichales (Chlorophyceae) were reported from the Satpura ranges of Nandurbar District. The reported genera were : Ulothrix, Uronema, Lagerheim and Microspora. The genus Ulothrix was found dominant during the study.

UMBILICUS TROPAEOLIFOLIUS BOISS CRASSULACEAE A NEW RECORD TO THE FLORA OF ARABIAN PENINSULA2020 •
The plant diversity South West of the Arabian Peninsula is considered to be very high due to its location, variation of climates, and geographical features. Generally, the Arabian Peninsula characterized by very rich flora and is still not explored well. During the field survey of rare plant species, the authors collected a specimen of new taxa from the remote and inaccessible habitats in Jabal Ibrahim of the Asir region, Saudi Arabia. The plant was not reported so far in the flora of the Arabian Peninsula. The present paper deals with the record of one new plant species (Umbilicus tropaeolifolius Boiss) to the flora of Saudi Arabia and the Arabian Peninsula. The plant has a very small population range and very limited occupancy. The plant specimen was collected and later on identified and described with the available flora reference and with contact of a botanist

Classification and distribution of Bupleurum L. (Umbeliferae Juss.) in MongoliaThere are seven species of the genus Bupleurum L., which is recognized from Mongolia mainly basing on the field collection of Mongolia and specimens of LE and PE. A diagnostic key of the seven species is yielded. And the distributions of the taxa concerned are provided in the light of the phytogeographical division of Mongolia. This paper presents a comprehensive taxonomical treatment of Bupleurum L. to the Mongolian flora.
