Quinolizidine Alkaloids of Platycelphium vöense (Engl.) Wild (Leguminosae)1997 •
13 Alkaloids were identified in leaves and twigs of Platycelphium vöense (a monotypic genus in the tribe Sophoreae) by capillary GLC and GLC-MS. Cytisine, N-methylcytisine, anagyrine and 5,6-dehydrolupanine figured as major and N-formylcytisine, N-acetylcytisine, baptifoline, thermopsine, isolupanine, and rhombifoline as minor alkaloids in both leaves and twigs. Lupanine occurred in considerable amount in the leaves and as a minor component in the twigs. The rare alkaloid, 6β-hydroxylupanine, was detected only in the leaves while N-ethylcytisine was shown to be a minor constituent of the twigs only.

Quinolizidine Alkaloid Profiles of Lupinus varius orientalis, L. albus albus, L. hartwegii, and L. densiflorus2001 •
Alkaloid profiles of two Lupinus species growing naturally in Egypt (L. albus albus [synonym L. term is], L. varius orientalis) in addition to two New World species (L. hartwegii, L. densiflorus) which were cultivated in Egypt were studied by capillary GLC and GLC-mass spectrometry with respect to quinolizidine alkaloids. Altogether 44 quinolizidine, bipiperidyl and proto-indole alkaloids were identified; 29 in L. albus, 13 in L. varius orientalis, 15 in L. hartwegii, 6 in L. densiflorus. Some of these alkaloids were identified for the first time in these plants. The alkaloidal patterns of various plant organs (leaves, flowers, stems, roots, pods and seeds) are documented. Screening for antimicrobial activity of these plant extracts demonstrated substantial activity against Candida albicans, A spergillus flavus and Bacillus subtilis.

Quinolizidine alkaloid composition in different organs of Lupinus aschenbornii2011 •
Lupinus aschenbornii S. Schauer, Fabaceae, grows in the Central Highlands of Mexico, at altitudes between 2800 to 4300 m above sea level. The alkaloid patterns in organs of L. aschenbornii were analyzed by Gas-Liquid Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GLC-MS). Quinolizidine alkaloids (QA) were identified according to their mass fragmentation patterns, in combination with their Kovats retention indeces. Total QA content in organs differed substantially: seed contained 3.3 mg/g dry weight, flowers 2.8 mg/g DW, leaves 1.9 mg/g DW, stems 1.5 mg/g DW, and pods 1.4 mg/g DW. Roots do not accumulate QA and their profiles differed considerably: while seed stored N-formylangustifoline (17%), 17-oxolupanine (16%), multiflorine (11%) and an unidentified alkaloid (n.i.) 2869 (11%) as main QA, sparteine was absent. In flowers, sparteine reached 73%, in leaves up to 80%, in stems up to 32% and in pods up to 96%. Other QA present were lupanine (32% in stem, 9% in flower and 7% in seed); N-formylangu...

Quinolizidine Alkaloid Profiles of South American Lupins: Lupinus linearis and the Lupinus gibertianus Complex1993 •
The alkaloid composition of leaves of Lupinus linearis Desr. (3 ecotypes) and L. gibertia nus Smith (6 ecotypes) from Argentina and Brazil were studied by capillary gas-liquid chromatography and GLC-mass spectrometry (EI-MS). Both species are closely related according to morphological criteria. This view is supported by the alkaloid profiles which are very similar and share a series of new and uncommon alkaloids. Main alkaloids are lupanine, 13-hydroxylupanine, esters of 13-hydroxylupanine (e.g. 13-angeloyloxylupanine, 13-tigloyloxylupanine, 13-benzoyloxylupanine, 13-cis/trans-cinnamoyloxylupanine). Minor alkaloids are: sparteine, 11,12 -dehydrosparteine, ammodendrine, tetrahydrorhom bifoline, angustifoline, α-isolupanine, 5,6-dehydrolupanine, 11,12-dehydrolupanine, N-formylangustifoline, 13-cis-cinnamoyloxymultiflorine. New minor alkaloids which have been tentatively identified by GLC-MS are 13-hydroxy-17-oxolupanine and corresponding esters (13-an-geloyloxy-17-oxolupanine, 13-tig...

The present study was detected of alkaloid compounds in 26 plants used in Ethnoveterinary medicine in Sudan. Crude extracts for the plant samples were obtained using Five solvents (ethanol, petroleum ether, chloroform, ethyl acetate and aqueous). Phytochemical screening method on the ethanolic and aqueous extracts. Revealed that alkaloids were abundant in most candidate plant except only five, namely; Maerva crassifolia (stem park), Pennisetum orientale (seeds), Balanites aegyptiaca (fruit), Cucurbita moschata (seeds) and Conocarpus erectus (leaves). Thin layer chromatography (TLC) used to detection of alkaloids in those plants extracts have shown good results.
