Location

Worthing is a seaside resort town in West Sussex, England, at the foot of the South Downs, 11 miles west of Brighton and 18 miles east of Chichester. With its pier, beach and local shops, Worthing is a popular tourist destination during the holidays, but is still worth visiting all year round.

What's there?

Worthing Pier is at the centre of the seaside attractions, with the Pavilion Theatre and Pavilion Atrium Bar at the start of the pier. There is an arcade in the middle of the pier and to the southern end is the South Pavilion.

Fishing on the pier is free of charge. It's free to enter the pier and there are ramps on each side of the entrance for disabled access.

Along the Worthing coastline, you will find plenty of restaurants and beachside stores. There are two public toilets, both located a short distance from ether side of the pier.

Parking

You can park along the road that follows the coastline, pay and display parking is £1.20 per hour and you can park for a maximum of 4 hours.

There are multiple disabled parking bays, one side with ramp access to the path along the beach; the other has a short distance to the crossing.

You can also park around Steyne Gardens (Steyne Gardens, Worthing BN113DZ). This car park also gives easy access to some of the local shops.

Parking is free for those with blue badges.

Accessibility

Worthing is a great place to visit for those with conditions such as POTS, with plenty of benches along the seafront path. There are benches every 10-15 metres along the shoreline and pier.

The paths along the beach and pier are suitable for wheelchair users and there are ramps on each side of the entrance for disabled access.

When to visit?

The pier is open from 6am to 10pm (depending on the weather). Worthing tends to be busy during the holidays, there are always parking spaces; but it can be a fair distance from the pier and main town centre. Finding a place to park during off-seasons is much easier.

I have always been able to find a parking space when visiting during the week, with Steyne Gardens being my preferred location.

Conclusion

With level paths, blue badge parking and plenty of benches, Worthing is a great location for those with health conditions that can make getting around difficult. Parking along the beach means walking distances are minimal and with a blue badge it's free. I would highly recommend this location.
