aka Caryota gigas or Giant Fishtail Palm. Thailand palm with massive crown of leaves and huge, hard trunk wrapped in very dark fibrous weave. Solitary monocarpic palm. Good palm for much of southern California. Deep green leaves that tend to be somewhat horizontally oriented (relative to most other Caryotas). One of the largest bulk palms that can be grown in California. Moderately fast growing, though many palms that grow a lot faster, and many more that grow more slowly. Cold hardy down to mid 20s.
