Product Description
About Our Laminated Tapes
The PT-D200 uses tapes from our TZe laminated line, whereby text is protected by a thin, clear film. They withstand water, grease, fading and abrasion, and can be used in hot and cold environments, as well as outdoors. Choose from a wide variety of TZe tapes to match your application – use Standard Laminated Tapes for general home or office applications, or use one of our specialty tapes for labeling everything from wires and cables to photos for scrapbooking. We even have non-laminated fabric iron-on tape for labeling clothes, sports uniforms, linens and more.

The instructions advise to use brand new batteries of a quality brand name, not to mix and match brand names or rechargables, and remove the batteries if the unit is to remain idle for some time between uses. I understand that there can be quality control issues between lot numbers, and items are sometimes supplied by different vendors, so it's possible some people got a bad product, but I guarantee a few of the negative respondents unpacked the labeler, put in two new duracells, one new energizer, and three half-dead panasonics from their T.V. remotes, then cried foul when the labeler died within the hour. Six AAA batteries is a lot for one device, but all of the top brand labelers are the same in this regard. As an option, there is a $15 AC adapter that you can buy separately which saves you the battery cost and brings your total to $25, which is still a bargain for this labeler. Another reviewer advised that you could try using an AC adapter that you already have; just remember, the plug has to be the right type and the adapter has to be properly rated for it to work. You can find the adapter requirements listed in the labeler instruction manual to see if you already have one that will work.
One other tip; buy replacement cartridges from Amazon or Walmart - several dollars cheaper than the office supply stores.
The price seems to fluctuate every time I look at it. I paid about $20 for it here and saw it the next week for $10, but mostly it's around $30 and well worth it even at that price. The labels seem to run about $10 a cartridge and I don't know yet how long they will last.
The only critique I have, and I think there's a solution for it that I haven't figured out yet, is that it ejects quite a bit of tape with each label. Seems to me that I waste about a third of the cartridge on blank spaces.
Only two small drawbacks- both of which you might expect with ANY labeler:
1. The ink/ribbon cartridges last a long time, but can be expensive (which is typical!)
2. This model requires 6 (yes, six!) AAA batteries, so if you use your labeler a lot, you will likely need to replace the batteries a little more often than expected- but worth it!
I would highly recommend this device, as I have been using it for some time, and NO problems!

Labels themselves easy to apply and stays on.
Many font choices and label options make this a quick and versatile labelling solution.
I am not crazy about how you lose about half an inch of label that's blank when cutting the label. There is an option that allows you to print labels back to back to prevent this. Make sure you print as many labels as you need at one time your you'll be going through labels quickly. It would be nice for manufacturers to realize that making revenue from consumables such as toner and ribbon are only as viable until another manufacturer creates a third party replacement at a much more affordable price.
Purchased some NextPage/Ptouch compatible labels from Amazon as well and they work as good as the original Labels.
