“Thrilling post-apocalyptic romance at its dark, sizzling best!” —Lara Adrian

Before surviving the Scorpius bacterium, Tace Justice was a good ole Texas cowboy who served his country and loved his mama. After Scorpius, the world became dark, dangerous, and deadly—and so did he. The Vanguard medic is stronger, faster, and smarter than before, but he’s lost the line between right and wrong. His passion is absolute, and when he focuses it on one woman, there’s no turning back for either of them…

Sami Steel has been fighting to survive right alongside Tace, convincing the Vanguard soldiers she’s one of them. In truth, Sami is a former hacker turned government agent who worked at The Bunker, where scientists stored both contaminants and cures. Only she knows the location, and she’s not telling. Yet when sexual fire explodes between her and Tace, she’ll face even that hell again to save him.

4.5 STARS

It took a few attempts to write this review without spoilers beyond what is already disclosed in the book blurb, but I think I've got it now so here goes! It is hard to believe these first 3 books in the series only cover a span of a few months, but in this post-apocalyptic world you have to live in the moment because tomorrow is never guaranteed. The survivors in the Vanguard camp are racing the clock to find a cure to save the future of human race, trying to find enough resources to keep people alive, and fending off attacks from the sociopath Ripper President's Elite Force, so when they find love in the midst of the madness, they have to seize their chance.

Tace was all Southern boy charm and Texas drawl before Scorpius, but now that he is a survivor he is feeling like the darkness has taken hold in him and it scares the heck out of him. He comes from a long line of Texas lawmen and he feels like he has betrayed them by allowing the darker side of him to emerge now. Sami can see that the well mannered Texas man is still in there, but he is buried deep and struggling for dominance with the new, faster and harder version of Tace. And somehow that new version is really working for her which freaks her right out, especially since the new Tace seems to be very adept at reading people when they are lying and she is not ready to have her secrets exposed.

A trip into rival Mercenary territory to patch up their wounded and do a little recon work puts Sami and Tace in close quarters, and it doesn't take long before things turn heated. As hard as she tries to gain the upper hand, she is bound to fail because Tace is not backing down until Sami is his once and for all. His descent into darkness and his over the top protective instincts toward her still worry him but he just adds it to the list. He has been experiencing episodes of numbness and passing out since Scorpius infected him and he has to focus on hiding his weakness so that he can remain a functional part of the team. That plan goes by the wayside quickly though when an episode hits in front of Jax and the team, and Sami recognizes his systems as a rare but potentially deadly side effect of the Vitamin B treatments they all take. In order to save his life, she offers up her knowledge of the Bunker and risks being banished from Vanguard for her deception.

Although Jax and Tace are angry with her, they recognize that she did the right thing in order to try to find a cure for Tace's condition. Sami is terrified of going back to the Bunker as she relays the activities that she witnessed there, but in order to try to ensure a future for any of them, they decide to make an attempt to storm the facility. Jax and Tace hatch a daring and dangerous plan to follow through but they have to form an uneasy alliance with Greyson Storm, the leader of the rival Mercenary gang, if they have any hope of succeeding. There is an interesting element between Grey and Raze's sister Maureen that I can't wait to see explored, but for now it is enough of a mystery to have everyone intrigued- except Raze. Maureen's expertise is needed to find a way to grow sustainable food sources in the new environment and Grey's camp has the best facilities for it, so I am thinking this new alliance may turn out to be longer term than they planned, but we shall see!

Anyhow, I digress- the last half of the book is fast paced and action packed as the group races to save Tace's life and find the Bunker before the President and his men realize that Vanguard has discovered the location. In the meantime, the uninfected part of Vanguard's population that calls themselves The Pure is becoming a bigger problem with each passing day and their new fanatical leader is a thorn in Jax's side. He is treacherous and shifty to say the least, and he pulls an outrageous move at the end that I am sure Jax will retaliate for swiftly. Then they make an unexpected discovery that rocks Jax's world, and I cannot wait to see how that plays out in the future!

Justice Ascending was a wonderful read that kept me riveted from start to finish and I cannot get enough of this series! Tace and Sami are a great couple; they are both strong and capable, but they offset each other in all the right ways. Tace is just the right combination of alpha, dominant, protective, sweet, caring, and willing to do anything to ensure the woman he loves survives even if he doesn't. If you love hot, sexy alpha males, some heat and a little danger and suspense, then you need to check out the Scorpius Syndrome series today!

This was a very good story and addition to the series. I've liked Tace in previous books and I'm glad things are looking up for him. Sami was a bit of a mystery in the past but I found that I liked her and she fit well with Tace.

Sami is a lieutenant of Jax, the leader of the Vanguard. Sami has awesome fighting skills and claims to have been a LAPD rookie before Scorpius hit. Sami loves being a member of the Vanguard and has reasons for her secrets but when Tace is at risk, Sami is forced to make a choice.

Tace is a Texan that was a medic in the military before Scorpius. Now that Scorpius has hit, Tace took a position as a lieutenant to Jax in the Vanguard. They don't have many doctors so Tace does a lot more of the medical work now. Tace was infected with Scorpius a few weeks ago and although he survived, his metal state have changed since then and Tace doesn't know how he might change in the future.

Tace was always attracted to Sami but since the Scorpius infection, he's been obsessing over her and feeling very protective. In the previous book, the Vanguard forged a tentative alliance with "the Mercenaries" another group of survivors that are also being targeted by the "President" turned psychopath. The Mercenaries ask the Vanguard for some medical help for people injured in the President's attack (which took place in book #2 but only a day before in book time). Jax sends Tace to help with the medical issues and Sami to watch his back.

Tace and Sami have to stay close to each other in Vanguard territory and it pushes their mutual attraction to undeniable levels. They try to fight it but eventually, neither of them is able of willing to fight it anymore. Of course this is when Tace has a rare reaction to the Scorpius infection....one that could kill him. It forces Sami to come forward with her secrets and allows the Vanguard and the Mercenaries to team up and infiltrate the government lab they've been looking for. There are still some issues pending when this story ends but 2 things are resolved: 1. Tace's life threatening issue is taken care of and 2. Tace and Sami are solidly together and they're working towards a HEA together (as much as possible in a post apocalyptic world).

This was a very enjoyable story. I liked Sami in previous book but with certain reservations. Once everything came out, I liked her more and thought she was a good match for Tace. Tace is a good guy...he got a bit more clinical about some things after his infection but I still liked him and thought he was good in his core. I actually tend to think that his love for Sami will help with some of the emotion dampening effects Scorpius can have. Overall, I liked the characters and found the story to be very interesting and engaging. I'm really enjoying this series and would recommend it. :)

OMG! OMG! Justice Ascending is one of my TOP 5 FAVORITE books of 2017! Steamy, sexy, dark, gritty, action-packed, this story is one I want to reread, again and again! Rebecca Zanetti is an author you find yourself stalking non-stop online to keep up with ALL her books. Her writing takes you away and makes you wish you could live in her worlds. Whether its this dark, post-apocalyptic world, or her paranormal world, or her steamy contemporary world, her books make you wish for her sexy, cocky, dominant alphas and the love and protection they bring: EVERY TIME!

So Justice Ascending is darker, and spicier and definitely sexier, than her two previous books. I loved how dominant, dark, and edgy Tace was and how strong and brave and yea, I loved how Sami could hold her own in the post-apocalyptic world. Only Miss Zanetti can create a heroine who is strong and badass and make me love her. Tace and Sami are just so dynamic together and I loved it! And the fact that there was danger and action in between just had my heart constantly slamming against my chest and had me on the edge the whole time. And the sex...HOLY HOT HOT HOT BATMAN! I freaking love the challenge, the heat, the sizzle with every interaction between these two lovers. This book is one you won't soon forget, I GUARANTEE IT!

Justice Ascending gets a DARK AND SEXY FIVE SHOOTING STARS! Its breathtaking action, steamy sex and edgy world will have you wishing for more books IMMEDIATELY by our queen of romance, Rebecca Zanetti!

After surviving Scorpius, Tace has changed from an easy-going Texas boy to something much darker. In fact, he's no longer sure he feels anything at all... except with Sami. And now he's becoming obsessed. Sami has been harbouring a secret. Despite what she's told everyone, she was never ex-LAPD. Instead, she was a hacker who worked at The Bunker, a place she's determined never to return to. Until it's the only way to save Tace, the man who has wormed his way into her heart.

I really enjoyed this book. Tace is an interesting character due to the effects of Scorpius, and his struggle is fascinating. There's enough of his previous personality under the surface to keep him likeable. I loved Sami and her brilliant fighting skills (but lousy gun skills). Just a really good read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another amazing book in the post apocalyptic world after the Scopius Syndrome invented by Ms Zanetti.

I love her characters, their evolution, their chemistry, their loyalty and their stubbornness to stay alive, protecting the weakest and those they love.
Tace is the character that changed the most and is struggling the most in this new world, in his new, not body but maybe mind? The virus changed him, touching the deepest part of his personality but he is not bitter or desperate because of it. He gets more and more determined, strong and fierce, becoming one of the toughest character ever and showing a depth of emotion that any woman would love to receive. As for Sami, I loved how combattive and proud she is. She has secrets but doesn't hide all of who she is. She is strong, fierce, determined and this is how she loves Tace. These two were great to follow and to get to know.
The advancement of the general plot is also staggering and left me so impatient for the next book to come out. Maureen and Grey???? please say yes!!!!!!!!!
