"Once you have their money, never give it back." -- #1

"Anything worth doing is worth doing for money." -- #13

For centuries these and the other famous Ferengi "Rules of Acquisition' have been the guiding principles of the galaxy's most successful entrepreneurs. But the wisdom behind them was not won without a high cost in lives and latnium. Now at last these inspiring tales of avaricious Ferengi wresting monetary gain from the jaws of poverty are available to the profit-hungry across the galaxy!

About the Author

Ira Steven Behr and Robert Hewitt Wolfe met while working for the South Downs Holding Company in the sleepy duchy of Rohan (a relatively obscure country near Liechtenstein}. Their first job together was to dispose of a dangerous piece of radioactive material shaped like a plain gold Ring. Unfortunately the Ring once belonged to a rather irascible mogul (the Chairman of the Board of Barad-dur, Ltd.) who was determined to get it back. Behr and Wolfe's friendship grew over the course of their long and peril-fraught journey. Together they traveled through Eriador, climbed Caradhras Mountain, wandered the Dimrill Dale, and kayaked the Anduin River, on a seemingly endless quest across the globe. Finally, broke, tired, and possessed of a desperate urge to write for television, the two friends tossed the Ring into a fiery pit (just outside Las Vegas, Nevada} and moved to Hollywood. Now they spend their time happily eating six meals a day, combing their furry feet, and writing numerous episodes of the popular syndicated series Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.

If you work for the Federal or State government you must buy this book. If you've wondered why the US & state governments don't "buy" stuff but "procure items" through "acquisition", then you should have already read the "The Ferengi Rules of Acqusition". This book gives the background to the Rules of Acquisition and is essential to understanding how our governmental bodies think about "buying" stuff. This book and it's predecesssor would be priceless if they weren't the way business is done in industry and government. As true representations of both (to a degree), they are absolutely essential reading... This should be required reading for anyone getting an MBA to counter those peaky ethics classes... and the MBA applicant should be tested, subject to total failure if these principles aren't mastered.

Thank you Sir Quark (he's been Knighted since the airing of the TV series).

Came fast and was in great condition. No worries about rule #1 of the rules of acquisition! They can have my money and not have to worry about giving it back!

The only con: that it DOES NOT contain all 285 rules (ex. We have rule 1, then it skips to rule 3, then rule 6, etc)
HOWEVER: this text has made me laugh more than any other fan item, and the legends that go with the rules are entertaining to say the least.
In summation: worth the buy, and an excellent gift for any Trek fan

The rules of acquisition, fable-style. This does not cover all rules. The twist here is that each rule covered is introduced by a fable or anecdote that is supposed to illustrate it. It can be quite amusing to see the link between story and conclusion (rule). Provides more than a few chuckles.

It's not very often you get veiled references to Frankenstein and the Beatles in the same book (let alone a Star Trek book) but those are just examples from a hilarious book on the Ferengi (written by two DS9 writers no less). There are some great illustrations in the book as well.

If you like the Ferengi, you should also check out the novel The 34th Rule and the third novel in the Worlds of Deep Space Nine series.

This is a must for all Geeks and Star Trek fans! Heck, even if you like Sci-Fi, have it as a conversation piece in the living room! Good for info, great for laughs, I cannot recommend this enough! By the way, seller was easy to deal with, delivery was early and the price was more than fair, what more can you ask for?!
