Product Description

Cryptocoryne wendtii, a polymorphous (variable) species found only on the island of Sri Lanka, is one of the most popular and widely kept aquarium plants. The ease of culture of C. wendtii and its luxuriant foliage have earned it a well-deserved place in the hobby both in the aquarium and in emersed culture. Several varieties exist, all being united into one species by the purple collared, twisted limb of the spathe of the spadix inflorescence. The 'Red' form is one of the hardiest, most variable, and most popular forms of C. wendtii. C. wendtii 'Red' is an extremely variable plant and can be used in any location in the aquarium as lighting and nutrition allow. This plant responds greatly to lighting, showing a growth habit that is highly dependent on light intensity. Under intense lighting the plant will grow almost completely decumbent. In aquaria with moderate lighting, it grows significantly taller. Along with its hardiness, this color form of C. wendtii is known to be the largest of its species and commonly reaches heights of 12-18 inches in the aquarium.2.

Thriving Plant
This didn't have many of the reddish purple leaves when it first came in, but now that it has bern in my tank a while, it is doing very well. It grows very quickly and has probably tripled in size. The tall green leaves are really about it for what came in, all the shorter redder leaves are new growth. We actually have two of these in our tank. The other was from a local shop, but grows just as fast.

I am quite pleased with this order. The seller (Aquarium Plants Discounts) automatically combines shipping of multiple items for a single fee, as long as you check out all in the same order. My order arrived in great condition 3 days after placing it. I used standard shipping. The plant itself is very nice and didn't have any melting or damaged leaves. It has been in my aquarium for 12 days and is growing noticeably. It is also transitioning to its submersed look compared to the emersed look it was grown in. It has 16 large leaves and numerous small leaves growing in. I will surely be ordering again.

I am not using any supplementation and my lighting is a

Nice looking plant and easy to care for. In fact, i just planted it in the substrate and it's been growing quite fast. The only thing is that the plant's color nowhere resemblance the what's presented in the picture. Or at least for the last two weeks, it hasn't turned green yet.

It's an okay plant. The leaves seem to melt often but that just could be due to the parameters of my tank environment because I do have hard water so that might be part of the problem. It hasn't died and there has been new growth so I'll keep it for awhile longer and see how it does.

The plant had few leaves falling off but that is normal for Crypts. in transit. Other wise nice looking plant other than the deep red like it should have which is due to low light conditions.

I'm going to go ahead and give this a 5 star rating because it is exactly as described, and the plant that was delivered was mature, full, and had a great root system. It's grown emersed so I expected it to melt back once put into water, which it did, although 3 of the original stems are still hanging on.

I've ordered crypts from a few different reputable places and none of them have survived or looked as nice as this one upon arrival. They're finicky at first, don't take well to changes in all kinds of parameters, and really don't like going from growing in air to being submerged into water. This one looks like it might make it. I've had it for a couple of weeks and it's making new little stems. If it doesn't survive I can't fault this seller at all. It's just a picky plant and it prefers a CO2 rich environment, especially if you want that the really deep bronze/red color.

This arrived in Feb, got too cold at some point during the trip. All the leaves died and decayed. HOWEVER, stems and roots were firm and green, and are now doing very well. Using a bit of easy green to fertilize, put a root tab in the substrate.

Arrived in beautiful condition with excellent root system. I don't pay much attention to color so much, as plant leaf color can shift w. conditions; I just needed to replenish the plants in my aquariums when warming temperatures (a few degrees) was enough to cause a meltdown of my aquarium plants*my bad*. This one is happily growing and I learned don't mess with the aquarium temp; the plants don't like it....

Will be back for more; IMO lots of plants = happy aquarium.
