Released in Japan in January 2003, this Taito-developed action game is a two-player shooter where players must take on a major alien bug infestation within the crumbling walls of a post-apocalyptic city. Sounds a bit like an obvious sequel to Space Invaders, but the gameplay is actually more akin to 3D on-rails shooters like Sin and Punishment. The game highlights the conflicts of the usual glamorous heroes -- a beautiful girl that's keen on riding motorcycles, the overzealous frat boy, and the super macho ex-army commandant. All go up against a host of nasty alien creatures, including beetle like bugs and flying creatures.

for a game i only paid $5 it's great. not only can i use it with the game cube but also with my wii. gamecube games are great for children who only have a wii & for parents who don't want to spend too much. all it needs are a gamecube controler & a memory card.
The game is just passable. The graphics are like a polished N64 game, which is unacceptable for the time. It plays just like space invaders but takes place in the demolished dark ruin down city of NY I think I forgot. The Aliens look pretty cool..the bosses are pretty creative looking as well. The game is not hard because you have unlimited continues..but if it didn't, it'll be brutal. The boss fights are pretty long, and sometimes you'd fight two of them back to back. I couldn't play the game long enough..got repetitive. But I understand that it's for nostalgic arcade players, I'm sure it's fun for the right people. Just not my cup of tea.
Okay, if you are looking for a challenge, then this isn't the game for you. But, if you are looking to have some fun then this is a great game to own, especially for the price. The old arcade style action shooter brings back great gaming memories. The game is easy to beat, and the story is TOTALLY cheesy, but the graphics are nice and the gameplay is really fun. A downside to the game is that it doesn't have 2 player in story mode, which I thought was pretty lame. Overall, I am pleased with Space Raiders.
