Don Omar has been missing in action as of late, but everything indicates that he’s been working in silence.
On Tuesday (Feb. 9), the eve of his 43rd birthday, the veteran reggaeton star — born William Omar Landrón Rivera — reappeared on social media to share a pre-production sneak peek of his new single, “Agradecido” (Grateful). (Listen on his Instagram.)
Over a slow-tempo hip-hop beat, Don counts his blessings and elaborates on his connection with God. He pens an ultra-personal and sincere track about being grateful for being alive, his family, his fans, and even being at peace with his colleagues who were once his competition.
Don’s The Last Album arrived in 2019, after a four-year hiatus and releasing The Last Don II in 2015.
“I was exhausted,” he told Billboard in an exclusive interview in 2019. “I think we all need to stop sometimes. I love what I do. But it had become a chore and a routine. Routine kills. I got used to the routine of a song, a video and then nothing happened. I wanted to sit back and look at the business.”
