The Insignia’s interior is one of its real star attractions. Its swoopy curves and high standards of build quality are fab, it’s superbly comfortable and everything is easy to use.
Style
OK, the Insignia’s interior is never going to win any awards for style – there’s a bit too much grey plastic for it to be attractive, but the materials used feel high quality and are well put together. The dashboard also has a lot of buttons on it – not great when you’re trying to find the right control while driving, but otherwise it’s a solid interior and a comfortable place to spend time.

Infotainment
As standard the Insignia comes with a small ‘R400’ 4.2-inch colour display – it includes a CD player, a USB port, DAB digital radio and Bluetooth for streaming music and phonecalls to the car’s speakers. It’s a basic system and you’re better off upgrading to the Touch R700 IntelliLink system – it has a much bigger eight-inch touchscreen that you can use to mirror your smartphone screen thanks to Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Upgrade to the Navi R900 IntelliLink system and you get a pretty decent sat-nav system as well, with sharp graphics and an easy-to-navigate user interface.
The Insignia is also available with Vauxhall’s OnStar subscription service, which gives you access to an automatic emergency service call system should you crash, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and a SmartPhone app that can let you remotely unlock and lock your Insignia, sound the horn or flash the lights – as well as the ability to check the oil levels without laying a finger on a dipstick. You can also get monthly newsletter emails that tell you how your car’s systems are doing.
