When Jahmiel took on Tommy Lee Sparta in 2018 many Dancehall fans were shocked at the range that he displayed in spitting out his diss tracks but according to him it was nothing new as he is no stranger to handling pressure situations. In fact he said: “Jahmiel is not one to underestimate.”

Jahmiel, whose given name is Jamiel Foster, is best known for his song ‘Gain the World’ which has over seven million views on YouTube, since it’s release in 2014. He recently spoke with Jussbusstv on Youtube about how the industry has been treating him.

He admitted that he did not really think ‘Gain the World’ would be as huge a hit as it has become and when he was recording it, he felt it would just be another song. He said the people around him always felt that it would take off.

Jahmiel has been writing song lyrics since he was four-years-old and can even remember his first performance when he was just seven-years-old. His first recorded studio song was at 12-years-old. He’s been closely linked to Dancehall artistes Mavado and Alkaline. He said he worked closely with them because he knew both artistes before he got his fame.

Apparently Mavado has always been a fan of his talent, while he and Alkaline once worked in the same studio together. He added that he and Alkaline come from the same place and “making it is ah joy.”  The three artistes collaborated on a single called Jealousy earlier this year.

Jahmiel also discussed his thoughts on censorship in the industry. He stuck to his well-known opinion that music doesn’t make people be violent to each other. He added it’s the men involved in violent crimes that bear the hatred towards one another.

“Artistes just ah paint different pictures with dem music just like how dem ah use the movies to paint different pictures and people look pon it as an entertainment, look pon it as entertainment too an stop put so much pressure pon artsites. Me never see music just ah make ah man get up and do somebody something.”

Jahmiel is forever grateful to his father, Percival Foster, who he said played an instrumental role in him becoming the success that he is today. He recalled that his father was first manager and remains his number one fan. He added that hard work isn’t the only requirement of success but that it takes the right combination of having the right network and links to make it.

It’s also about having team members that believe in the music or as he puts it “one dream, one team”. They should also be able to initiate ideas that will help the artist and the product to grow.

Jahmiel took some time to talk about his new album as well. It’s called ‘The Great Man’. He said he’s extremely proud of the album as he believed that fans are satisfied with the work he did on it. He added that he’s not opposed to doing another compilation because he loves recording and is in the studio often coming up with new music.

He’s looking forward to the New Year as : “2020 I expect fe have plenty plenty”.
