Tamarisk, Salt Cedar(Tamarix chinensis)

The salt cedar has invaded many areas in Arizona, along the rivers and other water rich areas. It is considered a major pest. It resistance to salt makes it a reasonable choice in some garden areas. Cultivated varieties offer superior flower colors and should be used rather than a transplanted naturalized plant.

Culture:
The root system is invasive and should be kept away from plumbing and other septic tanks, as well as walls and foundations.
