This is an easy architectural clump forming houseplant. It can tolerate cool to warm conditions but is best grown intermediate to warm, average home temperatures will suit it well, though it can tolerate near freezing conditions so may be worth experimenting outside in very mild areas. It enjoys bright to shaded light, warmth, regular spraying and watering/fertilizing. Grow it in any well drained nutrient rich compost, such as mixes of orchid bark, gravel, perlite and humus. Excellent as an individual houseplant, in a display, conservatories, greenhouse or as tropical planting outside in summer. A great natural companion plant for Orchids and will help raise local humidity. It can grow up to 60cm tall and wide though can become lankier in low light. It produces long leathery, glossy green leaves with serrated edges. The tips of the leaves turn an interesting blue colour under high light. Flowering inflorescences often occur in summer, flowers are bright yellow and emerge from bright orange-red bracts.
Please note first four photos are for illustrative purposes only showing flowering specimen plants. The fifth and sixth photos represent examples of Half mature plants.
