This is a very sought after collectors bromeliads, relatively tall , can grow more than 36 inches tall, in optimal conditions, they have large leaves with silver banding, that can take on purple pink hues when grown in full sun. The inflorescence has a pendulous form and has bright pink bracts and purple flowers. It generally blooms in late summer. In general, bromeliads need minimal care - plant in very well draining soil, with an occasional watering in very dry times and some slow-release fertilizer applied around the base of the plants in spring.
