Selenicereus Anthonyanus/Zig Zag/ Ric Rac/ Fish Bone Cactus
YAAYYYY!!!!!!!!!
Ok the day has come, where I now have 2 blooms forming on my ZigZag YAYYY!!!🧐😲
I am so extremely excited and feeling blessed. After having her for almost 20 years now, Finally. I will post a picture of the bloom when it opens. Until then Happy Growing 🤓🦋🌻🌈
Looking for an unusual houseplant, look no further than the Fishbone Cactus (also known as Ric Rac Cactus or Zig Zag Cactus)! It is a striking houseplant and conversation piece, and easy to care for as well....
The pictures show the mother plant and then the 6” rooted starter plants.
All 6” rooted starter plants will vary in size and leaf growth.
All rooted starter plants have been planted for about 7 months.
Yay! 😲It Just bloomed for me and how exciting it is. And, I can confirm it is a Selenicereus Anthonyanus
The differences of the two.
EPIPHYLLUM ANGULIGER VS. SELENICEREUS ANTHONYANUS
The flowers are gorgeous and only last a day, but the main way to tell the difference is in the color of the flowers.
Selenicereus anthonyanus (also classified at different points in time as Disocactus anthonyanus and Cryptocereus anthonyanus) have beautiful reddish/pink flowers.
Epiphyllum anguliger, on the other hand, has yellow and white flowers.
The flowers make it super easy to tell the difference. Just by looking at the foliage, it may be a little trickier.
I believe this one is the Selenicereus anthonyanus. 🧐🤓🙃 I truly cant wait to see it bloom I am just now beginning to feed it regularly. When I have a bloom I will add it to the photos.
Both of these plants are native to Mexico and are epiphytic cacti.
This is one of the easiest cactus plants to propagate and share with your family and friends. You just need a piece of stem to start an entirely new plant. Take a fresh cutting and let it callus on the counter for a few days. Insert the callused end into a low soil medium, such as peat moss mixture. That is pretty much all there is to it. Provide light moisture and medium light when growing Fishbone cactus stems. Soon you will have new plants to spread to your gardening family.

When the plant arrives remove the packaging and place the cuttings in water for rooting or place them directly into a 4-6” pot with well draining succulent soil mixture and water well for the first watering, letting it drain. If you have purchased a rooted plant, give the plant at least a week before transplanting into permanent pot to allow the plant to acclimate and adjust after shipping.
