Pungent and spicy, this spectacular ginger grows 5' tall. Flashy pink and yellow shell flowers grow upright handsome wavy foliage. They resemble Alpinia zerumbet, but the blooms are a foot tall and stand straight up. This collector's ginger is quite rare.

Kat Ginger grows wild in the forests of tropical Asia and is widely used in traditional Chinese recipes. It does beautifully in a greenhouse and will thrive in zone 8 to 10 . Like most tropicals, it needs rich moist soil and partial shade.

These seeds are super fresh and should be planted right away.

Soak seeds in warm water for 6-8 hours.

Fill a pot with well draining soil, water and allow to drain.

Surface sow seeds, lightly cover.

Use a hose or water bottle on “mist” setting only to keep soil moist but not soaking wet.

Cover your pot with plastic wrap and a rubber band or a piece of glass to keep in heat and moisture and place in a very warm, sunny location.

Seeds can take several months to germinate, please be patient!
