Ferocactus schwarzii G.E.Linds.is a solitary slow growing barrel cactus that becomes nearly spineless when old making it a handsome plant. At a first glance the mature specimens looks more like a Echinocactus than a Ferocactus. Its stem is eeply grooved and bright green, up to 80 cm tall, and up to 50 cm in diameter.
