Adapted from the cult classic movie Heathers by Daniel Waters, the original Heather's musical gained cult status and resonated deeply with high schoolers prompting requests for rights from students, teachers and faculties across the country. This prompted the creators to find new ways to tell the story in a PG-13 context. After its high school premiere, Heathers The Musical (High School Edition) was met with huge enthusiasm from teachers and students alike. The musical, a dark comedy, tackles issues of teen suicide, bullying, homophobia and gun violence, while providing educational theatre companies with an opportunity to discuss these important topics with their teens and the community. Reviews across the country have shown that the characters, songs and story resonate deeply with young people.
Our director, Leland Williams, and our teen cast invite you attend one of their three performances and use the show as a springboard for important, open discussions about matters that affect the lives of teens.
