What a lovely little plant this dwarf snapdragon is. I have been in love with its neat flowers ever since I saw it for the first time. This alpine comes from S and SE Europe and forms lovely cushions of small, oregano-like leaves that are green and almost uniform in size (about 1cm) and shape (elliptic). The variety name Dreamcatcher possibly refers to the beauty of original Indian dreamcatchers.

The flowers come out from early June already and continue blooming until early autumn. They are snapdragon-like, light violet to lavender-mauve with pure white throat, and release an amazing sweet perfume. The flowering stems are quite erect, and while the tops keep producing new buds and flowers, at the bottom the stems are branching out making new stems with more flowers, forming a nice mound in almost no time.

This plant needs free-draining soil and location in full sun. Grow it in a rockery or sharply drained bed in poor to moderately fertile soil irrespective of its pH value. Cut back in early spring. In dry soil it allegedly takes winters of zone 5 = -29°C.
