Lane to perform senior recital

Elizabeth Lane, Hutchinson, will present her senior vocal recital at 7 p.m. Saturday, June 29 at First Presbyterian Church, 201 E. Sherman, Hutchinson.

She will be performing classical works by Schumann, Barber, Mozart, and Fauré, as well as pieces from "Shrek: the Musical," "Tangled," and "Wicked." Admission is free and the public is cordially invited.

Elizabeth has been receiving vocal instruction for nine years. She was previously taught by Denise Ferguson, and has trained in the studio of Pamela Anderson for the past three years. Elizabeth has been involved in school choir since eighth grade, and joined the Hutchinson High School honor choir, Expressives, in her junior year. She has received a Division I rating at state music festival for her vocal solos for the past three years. During her time at Hutchinson High School, Elizabeth was a member of the chorus in Sister Act, and played the role of Dragon in Shrek, the Musical. She was a member of the Reno County Choral Society for two years. She has been a member of the First Presbyterian Church Chancel Choir since her sophomore year, making her debut with the solo “Pie Jesu”, from Fauré’s Requiem. Most recently, she has performed the “Alleluia" from Mozart’s Exultate Jubilate. She has been a member of the FPC Praise Team for four years.

Elizabeth has a passion for other areas of music, as well. She began her participation in music with piano lessons at the age of five. She discovered her love of violin through her school’s orchestra program in sixth grade, and continues to enjoy playing and improving through private instruction. Elizabeth has been active in the Hutchinson High School orchestra, receiving numerous Division I awards at state contest. She was accepted into the Hutchinson Symphony during her junior year, and has enjoyed this experience immensely.

Elizabeth graduated from Hutchinson High School in May. She will be attending Emporia State University, and is planning on pursuing a double major of physics and vocal performance. She is the daughter of Jay and Michele Lane, Hutchinson.
