FLORA OF ICELAND elements: Angelica sylvestris, Wild Angelica, Geithvönn

Angelica sylvestris; The Wild Angelica is a more gracile angelica compared to the Garden Angelica. It differs in the more flattened flower umbels and the finer shaped leaves. It also flowers later (july/august) than the Garden Angelica. The wild angelic is more restricted to lowland regions of Iceland than the Garden Angelica. It is a member of the Carrot family (Apiaceae formerly known as Umbelliferae). The Icelandic name of this species is Geithvönn.
