Ultimate Fighters CD32 SX32 V1.1 - A fighting compilation for the Amiga CD32 gets an update!

Earok has contacted me again regarding his previous last great Amiga CD32 unofficial compilation, as a soft-retirement due to him moving over to commercial Amiga game development and overhauls; 'The Ultimate Fighters [CD32] [SX32] unofficial Amiga CD32 compilation pack'. This is, in his words, the largest themed collection the site has ever produced, 40 fighting games across numerous different styles. Although we have mentioned this pack before, it has now been updated to a 1.1 Workbench version!

Blazing Guns - Retro Komp Gamedev Compo 2016 Amiga game is now available for download (Demo)

Moving on to the Amiga now, and a 9th place entry in the recent Retro Komp Gamedev Compo 2016, is Aszus and team action platformer 'Blazing Guns'. A game that was fully coded in assembler, with no AMOS or Backbone, looks to star a gun slinging gangster that has the ability to run, jump and shoot at enemies such as bats. It features 50fps, pure assembly code, runs from floppy drives and or hard drives and has dynamic action on 320x267 screens.

OpenTTD 1.6.1 - Open Source Transport Tycoon Deluxe latest build

We haven't featured any open source strategy games for a long time now, so here is the latest build for Transport Tycoon Deluxe as ' OpenTTD 1.6.1 '. Although this was released some months back and didn't appear in our inbox, I thought it still worthy of a mention as Transport Tycoon Deluxe by Chris Sawyer was one of the highlights on the PC in the mid 90's. This open source version makes the game so much better especially if you enjoy running your very own transport company, such as bigger maps, stable multiplayer mode for up to 255 players in 15 companies and much much more.

PIC-Oh Mummy! - Classic 8bit game comes to the Pico-8 with a difference!

One of my favourite Amstrad games ' Oh Mummy! ' has surfaced again, and this time on the Pico-8 as PIC-Oh Mummy! developed by Hokutoy, but in his own style. Oh Mummy in my opinion was and still is one of the best games on the Amstrad from 1984 and it was created by Gem Software and published by none other than Amsoft, a well known publisher for the Amstrad computer. It had fun gameplay revealing lost Egyptian treasures, deadly mummies that needed to be avoided, and a soundtrack that has lasted the ages! But unlike the recent isometric overhaul from Crozza, Hokutoy has kept the top down view intact including the core gameplay, and overhauled everything else.

PAT Shooter - A chaotic blaster for pico-8 and PC

Back to the Pico-8 games today and this one is called PAT Shooter, developed by Benjamin Soulé. A rather old game compared to the more recent ones we've been featuring, you play as a tiny space ship that has to destroy many waves of enemies for an ever high score or you'll end up dying and having to start all over again. Not only is this game available on the Pico-8 but you can play it in your browser as well.

Yerzmyey and Pinokio performing ZX Spectrum live at Riverwash 2016, Katowice, Poland

Turn those speakers up guys and girls as after the recent multi-platform demo party in Poland via Riverwash 2016, Yerzmyey & Pinokio performed live with nearly 1 hour of upbeat ZX Spectrum tunes, which is shown off in this rather cool video from their concert! Watch as these two skilled mixers kick off with the starting track of Trip to Japan all the way up to Electrobody – a Daniel Kleczyński cover, with gameplay footage as an extra bonus in the video thanks to Kya.

Hired Guns - An Amiga Sci-fi experience like no other on the PC

As its my Birthday today, I thought it best to celebrate by mentioning one of the best games on the Amiga, 'Hired Guns', which has been packaged together with FS-UAE for playability on the PC by GamesNostalgia. First released in 1993 for both Amiga and DOS, this game was the highlight of my gaming youth developed by DMA Design and published by Psygnosis. It put you in charge of 4 mercenaries lured into a trap! A weapons proving ground whereby you must defend yourself against genetically engineered creatures.

Magica - A rather lovely Amstrad game by Reidrac gets teased

Reidrac ( Juan J Martinez ) who is one of our favourite homebrew developers on an 8bit system has appeared in our news feeds again with his new game Magica, which is in development for the Amstrad CPC. This game from the teased description is going to be a multi level single screen arcade game, with similar stun and hit mechanics to that of other great games such as Bubble Bobble and Snow Bros, while also having the developers own unique blend of great graphics and fun for all gameplay.

WinUAE 3.4.0 Beta 9 - Latest Amiga Emulator beta fixes expansion handling

Although we missed WinUAE 3.4.0 Beta 8, we didn't miss out on WinUAE 3.4.0 Beta 9 which was released earlier this evening and not long after the previous version. Once again Toni Wilen is still working on the best Amiga emulator to be feature perfect, and this time he's made sure the expansion handling addition is more stable. But as per usual there's always other fixes and improvements to be made and you can read the entire changelog below.
