Pacers vice chairman Jim Morris named as George M. Steinbrenner III Sport Leadership Award.
Jim Morris, vice chairman of Pacers Sports & Entertainment, was awarded the George M. Steinbrenner III Sport Leadership Award for his commitment and contributions to the Olympic and Paralympic movements.
This award is presented to individuals who have contributed to sport through management, sport organization endeavors or the enhancement of competitive opportunities, and who have displayed qualities of leadership, ethical conduct and dedicated responsibility during a longstanding commitment to sport. Morris has been with the Pacers since 2007 but before that he served as the executive director of the United Nations World Food Program from 2002-07. He worked tirelessly for years to partner with UNICEF and the High Commission for Refugees to End Child Hunger in order to help developing communities and aid at-risk youths.
Holding several leadership positions throughout his illustrious career, Morris has made many contributions to the United States Olympic Committee. He served as the USOC treasurer and as chairman of the USOC's audit and ethics committee all serving the city of Indianapolis in multiple roles. Named a trustee to the U.S. Olympic Foundation, Morris was also named as vice chairman to the foundation while acting as a member of the American Red Cross Board of Governors.
