Ok, now I am confused. The Encyclopedia of Cape Bulbs lists it, and the "old" red list has it, but the new red list doesn't. SA Biodiversity Information facility lists (both varieties) it as well. There are two varieties; variety lutea (LC)and variety ovata (EN). I cannot find any information on how to distinguish them, and or whether they occur in distinct parts of the country. I have found one passing ref to var. lutea in Malmsbury, and for that reason, am opting for this as this was photographed in Darling. I wold really like some help here. The only other thing I can tell you is that Peter Goldblatt says that "I. lutea....ha(s) salver-shaped, nectarless flowers, in bright colors contrasting with dark "beetle marks" and are pollinated exclusively by hopliine scarab beetles". As you can see, the hopliine scarab beetle is beavering away doing its job.
