Former Jaguars free safety Tashaun Gipson agreed on Tuesday to a three-year, $22 million contract to join the Houston Texans.

Gipson was among five players the Jaguars waived last week to clear more than $30 million in cap space that was used to extend quarterback Nick Foles a four-year, $88 million contract offer on Monday that he intends to sign.

Agreements cannot be announced by NFL teams until Wednesday at 4 p.m. when the new league year opens.

Gipson, who did not miss a game in three seasons, had 44 tackles, seven pass defensed and one interception last season.

Also, the Jaguars are not going to tender a contract offer to punt returner-wide receiver Jaydon Mickens, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported.
