Mateo Joseph has lauded one Leeds United teammate as a really good player after their performance for the Whites in the agonising FA Cup defeat to Chelsea on Wednesday night.

Daniel Farke’s side gave a brilliant account of themselves at Stamford Bridge. The Carabao Cup finalists needed a last-minute goal to book their spot in the quarter-final.

It was certainly a breakout night in the first-team for Mateo Joseph. Joseph was fantastic against Plymouth in the previous round. And the 20-year-old scored twice against the Blues.

Mateo Joseph praises Jaidon Anthony

Both of the goals were set up by the same person as well, with Jaidon Anthony making the most of a rare start on the wing.

Obviously, it has been a tough time for Anthony away from the pitch. So it was fantastic to see the 24-year-old make such an impressive impact against Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

And speaking to LUTV, Joseph was full of praise for the wide-man following the full-time whistle.

“Jaidon, he gave me two assists, so thanks for that. He has been through a difficult moment and he deserves it because he’s a really good player,” he said.

Leeds’ fringe players stake real claim

Daniel Farke would have obviously loved for his side to get through and book their place in the quarter-final against Leicester. We now know that we could have definitely won that game.

But with promotion the priority, Farke will just be delighted to have come through the game unscathed and with some of those on the fringes impressing.

Joseph has definitely shown that he can make an impact over the coming months. And it is a similar story with Anthony, who has not made a league start since October.

It says everything about how much depth Leeds have in attack that Anthony has not played more. But clearly, Farke can be confident that the Bournemouth loanee can be a game-changer in the promotion race.
