Milkweeds play an important role in supporting invertebrate communities. Poekilocerus bufonius (Left), here seen on Leptadenia pyrotechnica, is an invertebrate which feed primarily on species from the subfamily Asclepiadoideae. Ingesting the toxic chemicals from these plants makes them poisonous and distasteful to predators. Lygaeus equestris (Right) feeding on the fruits of Pergularia tomentosa, also from the subfamily Asclepiadoideae. #saudiarabia #protectedareas #conservation #biodiversity #ecology
