And again wastewater news / Und wieder mal Abwassernachrichten Our study of wastewater from rural sewage treatment plants shows clear differences compared to wastewater from a tertiary care hospital. The population of 3rd generation cephalosporin resistant E. coli (3GCREC) is considerably more diverse in rural wastewater. In 172 3CCREC characterized by whole genome sequencing, 68 MLST types were identified with a predominance of the globally occurring types ST10, ST38, and ST131. In contrast, type ST635, which is dominant in the hospital effluent of a tertiary care hospital, was not observed. Much still needs to be learned about the significance of the correlations. In unserer Untersuchung von Abwasser aus ländlichen Kläranlagen zeigen sich deutliche Unterschiede im Vergleich zu Abwasser eines Krankenhauses der Maximalversorgung. Die Population der 3. Generations Cephalosporin resistenten E. coli (3GCREC) ist erheblich diverser in ländlichem Abwasser. Bei 172 durch Gesamtgenomsequenzierung charakterisierten 3CCREC zeigten sich 68 MLST-Typen mit einer Dominanz der weltweit auftretenden Typen ST10, ST38 und ST131. Der im Krankenausabwasser eines Maximalversorgers dominante Typ ST635 wurde dagegen nicht beobachtet. Monitoring of the wastewaters for #sarscov2 in Luxembourg: The analyses realized by the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST) at the outlet of 8 wastewater treatment plants since January 29 2024 are comparable to those measured during the two previous weeks, with a national flux of SARS-CoV-2 ranging between 6.5 x 10^11 x 8.3 x 10^11 RNA copies per day per 100,000 population equivalents over the last week.
