#READALLABOUTIT This paper written with a PhD student, Chante Johannes and other supervisors. This paper interrogated the #relationship #between #psychosocial #factors and #physical #activity #participation among #undergraduate #university students at a #HDI in #South #Africa. The most stand-out finding for me was how #physical #activity was #significantly #associated with #mental #health, such as #depression, #anxiety and #stress. I got a sense that these are messages we have been broadcasting, and not really taking stock of where they have been landing. This research therefore advocates that future research on mental health should consider #physical #activity #interventions as a #strategy for #coping with #mental #health #challenges amongst #undergraduate #students. #undergraduate #mentalhealth #physicalactivity

Excited to share the publication of our latest paper, the first from my dissertation, investigating contributors to real-world ambulation in individuals with multiple sclerosis. Our results reveal that processing speed and walking impairment are predictive of real-world derived measures of gait speed and stride regularity. This deeper understanding of factors influencing walking in real-world settings is crucial for informing the development of targeted interventions aimed at improving walking.
