Bulbophyllum fletcherianum is flowering in the Hortus botanicus Leiden. Quite large inflorescences and very showy.

Bulbophyllums are wonderful plants to grow and enjoy, the colour of these pseudobulms on this plant are spectacular. Love the red/purple glow to the leaf edges too.

De bomen van de #HortusbotanicusLeiden worden vandaag doorgemeten met speciale apparatuur door Copijn boomspecialisten. Op die manier blijft de veiligheid gewaarborgd. Zo kunnen ze o.a. een twee-dimensionaal beeld van onze oude Ginkgo biloba produceren. Foto’s: Theo Houthoff

Veel planten van de collectie van de #HortusbotanicusLeiden bloeien nu. Indrukwekkend is zeker in onze hoge tropische kas de jade vine een endemische klimplant van de Filipijnen.

Today I received a delegation of Universitas Gadjah Mada, Yogyakarta, Indonesia, faculty of Pharmacy at the #HortusbotanicusLeiden. Afterwards the deans and our rector magnificus signed an agreement of a joint PhD programme.

Wij zien dat de laatste grote werkzaamheden uitgevoerd gaan worden voordat overmorgen de Sterrewacht ronde in de #HortusbotanicusLeiden af is. Vandaag nog de laatste paden asfalteren en ook de borden voor alle tuin delen neerzetten. Veel planten bloeien nu en u kunt komen genieten zoals van de daslook onder de beuk.
