It is commonly known as the Pelargonium webcap because of its unusual smell of Pelargonium(the household "geranium"). This species of mushroom is found in Europe and North America. It is hygrophanous, and belongs to the Telamonia group, being thin-fleshed and having a dry cap and stipe. Cortinarius flexipes cap is up to 3 centimetres (1.2 in). It is dark brown but becoming pale fawn on drying, with white hair-like scales especially near the edge. It is more or less pointed in the centre. The stipe is up to about 7 centimetres (2.8 in) and fibrous, with white bands of veil remnants. Fruitbodies have the smell of Pelargonium (household geranium). The species is inedible. C. paleiferus is defined as having more widely spaced gills, and has a pale violet mycelium at the base of the stipe. Now these types are combined into one species and considered to be only varieties of C. flexipes. โ https://lnkd.in/guYFaFha #Pelargoniumwebcap #Cortinariusflexipes #Cortinariuspaleiferus #Cortinarius #PixyWebcap #Pelargonium #geranium #mycologymonday #mushroommonday #mushroomlove #forestfloor #mycology #mushroomhunters #fantasticfungi #mushroomforaging #mushroomhunting #mushroomidentification #fungilove #mushroomphotography #mycology #fungi #fungus #mushroomid #mushrooms #mushroomoftheday #plantsnap

The petals have a "serrated" or "fringed" look. The flowers bloom in late spring and reach a size of almost 5 inches (12.5 centimeters) in length. Although they are perennials by natureูซ they are often grown as annuals. Parrot tulips come in a wide variety of colors, usually being brightly colored, but can come in darker colors. The flowers originated in France and were brought to The Netherlands in the 18th century. As buds, the flowers are green in color, but as they mature, the bright colors parrot tulips are known for start to appear. Parrot tulips are a group of cultivars, not a species. Their proper name is Tulipa Parrot Group. Parrot tulips are the result of natural mutations to single late tulips and triumph tulips. During the 17th and 18th century the most notable mutations were to color patterns with growers attempting to influence the color of the tulips using pigeon droppings, old plaster and even dirty waste water from the kitchen. It wasn't until the late 19th century that the source of these mutations was isolated as the tulip breaking virus. Later in the 20th century, radiation was used to cause mutations in these tulips to search for new colors and patterns. The parrot tulip is characterized by ruffled petals and bright colors. The flowers are somewhat curled, especially at the edge of their petals and are some of the showiest tulips in competition. The plant itself can grow to 22 inches (56ย cm) tall with the flower being on average around 5 inches (13ย cm) across. The parrot tulip is more puffy and expanded than some other tulips, with other tulips being more inward and curled up. They get their name from their exotic colors and shape, as the petals resemble the feathers on a parrot and parrots tend to have bright colors. Parrot tulips, just like other tulips, grow two or three bluish green leaves that are clustered together at the base of the plant. โ www.plantsnap.com โ #nationaltulipday #tulipday #Parrottulip #tulipaparrot #parrottulips #rainbowtulip #rainbowparrottulip #tulip #tulipa #tulips #tulipseason #tuliplove #tuliplovers #tulipgarden #tulips๐ท #tulipsaremyfavorite #floweroftheday #dailyblooms #springflowers #rainbowflowers #plantsnap

It is native to the Cape Provinces of South Africa, like Drosera capensis, the cape sundew, and is one of the most common sundews in cultivation. The plant forms small, tight rosettes of wedge-shaped leaves, up to 5ย cm in diameter. Under conditions of good lighting, the insect-snagging tentacles will become deeply coloured with anthocyanin pigments, which probably aid in its attraction of insect prey. The plant is relatively easy to grow, and produces attractive scapes of pink flowers, which are held about 30ย cm away from the carnivorous leaves, so as to prevent pollinators from becoming ensnared. D. aliciae is very similar in form to a number of other closely related species such as D. slackii, and D. dielsiana: the former is rather larger (8ย cm diameter); the latter rather smaller (3ย cm diameter). โ - Wikipedia โDrosera spp. are entirely reliant on bogs, fens, and other delicate wetland ecosystems; this makes their habitat incredibly sensitive and steadily shrinking. Though efforts are being made to preserve the wetlands in most parts of the U.S., much more work must be done to preserve their habitats. The roots, flowers, and seed capsules are frequently used in tea to treat breathing issues and break up chest congestion. Naphthoquinones are what gives the plant its antispasmodic effects.โ - united plant savers Drosera aliciae has received the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit. โ www.plantsnap.com โ #Droseraaliciae #sundew #sundews #sundewplant #drosera #alicesundew #droseraaliciae #carniverousplant #carniverousplants #plantoftheday #plantlovers #royalhorticulturalsociety #atriskplants #plantsnap

Commonly a tree, it reaches 10ย m (33ย ft) high, but it is often a shrub in drier areas 0.4 to 2ย m (1.3 to 6.6ย ft) high. It has long, narrow, serrated leaves and bright yellow inflorescences, or flower spikes, held above the foliage, which appear in spring and summer. The flower spikes age to grey and swell with the development of the woody follicles. The candlestick banksia is found across much of the southwest of Western Australia, from north of Kalbarri National Park down to Cape Leeuwin and across to Fitzgerald River National Park. The candlestick banksia is pollinated by and provides food for a wide array of animals in summer months. Several species of honeyeater visit the flower spikes, as does the honey possum, which has an important role as a pollinator. It regenerates from bushfire by regrowing from its woody base, known as a lignotuber, or from epicormic buds within its trunk. It can have a lifespan of 300 years. It has been widely used as a street tree and for amenities planting in urban Western Australia, though its large size generally precludes use in small gardens.
