Cycad. Zamia vazquezii Beautiful fernlike hardy landscape feature.

This is an attractive small fernlike cycad. This plant has papery thin, wide leaflets with very small indentations or teeth on the leaflets. This is a very adaptable and robust grower, handling low light situations, some coastal sun, all sorts of soils and watering schemes and even does well as an indoor container plant.

We have around 100 pieces available of multi-headed plants from medium to large sizes.

These are newly emerging leaves, the old leaves were removed as they are nursery stock, this leaf removal is not necessary, just a maintenance exercise in the nursery. The new leaves emerge with either bronze or Green leaves.

 The Zamia vazquesii below are on a west facing aspect and receive extremes of heat and direct sun at the hottest time of year, they are growing between rocks so the heat is retained inn the rocks and radiated, i can imagine that the rocks would get well into the 50's celsius, these Zamias are very surprising as they will also thrive in full shade and indoors. The Cycas seen here are Cycas seemannii which are also extremely hardy, and Pooya sp. in the foreground.

Most of these old multi-headed Zamia vazquezii were re-potted into larger containers, most of the leaves were removed from these plants for was of handling, as you can see, they are growing back showing the Green and Bronze Emergent variations. 

We have also Zamia fisheri mixed in with these, they are very rare.
