Eucalyptus papuana, Time for Trees!

Greetings from Arizona!

Before working with MSWN, I had not heard of Eucalyptus papuana (Corymbia papuana). It’s been ten years now since I first witnessed mature trees along the 10 fwy between Sky Harbour Airport and MSWN growing grounds outside of Phoenix, AZ. I was truly captivated with their grandeur, elegance of their weeping branches and amazing smooth, pure white bark. Notably called the Ghost Gum, this tree is a stand out in the Eucalyptus world making it a great choice for areas needing tall, some-what narrow trees with presence. Eucalyptus papuana produces very little leaf litter, is perfectly fine with full sun and reflected heat exposures, reaching a mature size of 30-40ft tall x 20-25ft wide. This tree is certainly gaining in popularity with a wide adaptability of uses including streets and parking lots, between buildings, as a shade tree, background silhouette or anywhere you can enjoy the gracefulness of the weeping habit and striking white trunks. We are currently growing these in 15g and 24” box. Make note to add this one to your list of trees to try sometime soon. I’m confident you’ll be happy you did.

***Speaking of trees, we just moved into fall and now is the time to think trees! We are at the end of tree growing season, so what we have now on the availability will likely be all we have until spring with some trees not being ready again until summer 2020. If you sell trees or have a project coming up that needs trees, please reach out and check to see what we have for fall-early spring. We still have a good supply on most, but we are running low on some for sure. Trees are always the first plants to go, so don’t delay!

Please see our most up to date availability and photo link for September 2019. I’m at the nursery this week so let me know if I can check on something for you, send pics, etc.

"Ghost Gum" seems just right as we head into Halloween season.
