Duraznillo (Ceballosia fruticosa)

Erect shrub, woody and highly branched, up to 4 m. Stems are greyish-green, occasionally pubescent. Leaves are linear-lanceolate to lanceolate, herbaceous or rather leathery (coriaceous), dark green, rough to the touch, 8-10 cm long. Inflorescences are terminal and flowers are whitish-green, small and aromatic. Fruits are fleshy, initially light brown and black when ripe, wrinkled. Typical of Euphorbia communities and thermophile forest strongholds, found between 80 and 800 m. It grows throughout the islands, although it is very rare in Fuerteventura and highly localized in Lanzarote. However, it is much more abundant in the rest of the archipelago. The genus Ceballosia is a native of the Canaries and has just one species.
