Mostarda-Brabo (Diplotaxis glauca)

Herb up to 80 cm, highly branched. The stems have a woody base and numerous leaves (from elliptic to very narrow), greyish-green or glaucous and up to 5 cm long by 3 cm wide, unevenly dentate and covered in short stiff hairs. The raceme has 30-50 yellow flowers. The species is restricted to stony flatlands and low mountains on the islands of Sal and Boavista, from 40-300 m. It is currently considered extinct in Boavista, but is locally common in Sal, specifically in the north, although populations can vary considerably in abundance from year to year. A small distribution area and the fact that it provides forage for grazing goats make this an endangered species.
