Mostarda-brabo (Diplotaxis varia)

Perennial shrublet, branched near the base, up to 80 cm tall. Leaves vary from ovate to spathulate depending on their situation and are glaucous or green, sometimes with purplish tones. Flowers are yellow, at the apex of the stems. Native to Santiago and Brava (Cape Verde), where it is found from 20-920 m, with a strong preference for mid-altitude areas that have a certain degree of moisture. It usually grows on rocky outcrops and roadside verges, and is locally common, although some populations are affected by grazing animals.
