Tommy DeVito is the name on everyone's lips in the NFL right now after leading the New York Giants to a third straight victory - and his relatable character is making him a hit with the fans too.

The New Jersey-born quarterback has gone from being an undrafted rookie to leading the Giants to a 24-22 success over the Green Bay Packers after injuries to Tyrod Taylor and Daniel Jones.

DeVito mania is already alive and well in his home state, as proven by a recent public appearance in the town of Wayne where he met excited fans.

ESPN reporter Jordan Raanan described how fans lined up for an autograph from the New York Giants star and asked him to sign the name 'Tommy Cutlets' on jerseys, tanktops and football helmets.

It seems the name is starting to catch on in the football world too. DeVito's team-mate, running back Saquon Barkley, referred to him by his new moniker during the New York team's win over the New England Patriots.

Why is Tommy DeVito called 'Tommy Cutlets'?

As the nickname suggests, DeVito isn't too bothered about public opinion and is focused on doing what makes him happy.

In a recent interview, DeVito opened up about his life living at home in Cedar Grove, New Jersey with his parents at the age of 25, despite earning enough money in his role to get his own.

And the 'Cutlets' part of his nickname derives from his favorite home-cooked dish from his mom, who cooks up a delicious serving of chicken cutlets for her son when he arrives home from practice or a game.

"I don't have to worry about laundry, what I'm eating for dinner, chicken cutlets, and all that is waiting for me when I get home," he told ESPN.

"I still have my mom make my bed. I've got everything taken care of. Sincerely, I'm not sure if I could find a place that is closer to here than my current residence. My trip here takes me 12 minutes."
