This is a microscopic, pathogenic fungus. It is necessary to observe microscopic features to confidently identify this species. Observations without microscopic details are speculative.

Description:

Without microscopic observation, this species cannot be distinguished from other fungi causing leaf spots on Mountain Laurel such as Mountain Laurel Leaf Spot (Mycosphaerella colorata (Peck) Earle).

Where to find:

This fungus could potentially be found throughout Maryland, anywhere that Mountain Laurel (Kalmia latifolia) grows.
