Syzygium guineense D.C. [MYRTACEAE]

Local name: Kofing

This is a flowering tree growing wild in sub-Sahara all the way from West Africa across to the eastern areas near rivers as well as in southern regions of Africa. A decoction of its leaves have in traditional Malian medicine as well as in Senegal and  Sierra Leone been used for the treatment of wounds, ulcers and infections.
