Following its premiere at the London Film Festival on Friday, October 7, The Wonder will hit selected movie theaters on Wednesday, November 2.

Who Stars in 'The Wonder' on Netflix?

Florence Pugh leads the cast of The Wonder as Liz Wright, an English nurse who served in the Crimean War alongside Florence Nightingale.

Due to her expertise, Wright has been called to Ireland to help find the answers to the case of 9-year-old Anna O'Donnell, played by Kíla Lord Cassidy, who has allegedly survived four months without food.

Pugh is best known for her roles in Lady Macbeth, Midsommar and Black Widow.

She most recently starred as Alice in the Oliva Wilde movie Don't Worry Darling.

Tom Burke stars as William Byrne a journalist who suspects the girl's miraculous survival is all part of a hoax.

Burke is best known for his roles as Athos in The Musketeers, Dolokhov in War & Peace and Orson Welles in Mank.

Raised by Wolves star Niamh Algar takes on the role of Kitty, Anna's older sister and Harper's Island's Elaine Cassidy plays the role of Anna's mother.

Also starring in The Wonder are Toby Jones, Ciarán Hinds, Dermot Crowley, Brían F. O'Byrne and David Wilmot.

What Is 'The Wonder' on Netflix About?

The Wonder on Netflix stars Florence Pugh as Lib Wright, a British nurse, tasked with getting to the bottom of how a young Irish girl has survived four months without food.

Anna O'Donnell has become a household name in her rural Irish community, with passersby stopping in to donate money to her family and to witness what they believe to be a miracle firsthand.

However, the truth starts to unravel when Wright arrives as part of the "watch" and will do anything to uncover the truth and protect Anna at all costs.

The movie is based on Emma Donoghue's novel of the same name. Donoghue, who was behind the novel and 2015 Oscar-nominated movie, Room, wrote the screenplay alongside director Sebastián Lelio and Alice Birch.

Netflix's official synopsis for The Wonder reads: "1862, 13 years after the Great Famine. An English Nightingale Nurse Lib Wright (Florence Pugh) is called to the Irish Midlands by a devout community to conduct a 15-day examination over one of their own. Anna O'Donnell (Kíla Lord Cassidy) is an 11-year-old girl who claims not to have eaten for four months, surviving miraculously on "manna from heaven". As Anna's health rapidly deteriorates, Lib is determined to unearth the truth, challenging the faith of a community that would prefer to stay believing."

Is There a Trailer for 'The Wonder'?

Yes, there is a trailer for The Wonder which is sure to keep audiences in suspense until the release of the movie.

In the trailer, Pugh's character Lib is told from the very beginning it is her job "not to question" the religious men at the heart of Anna's community.

She is then seen traveling to Anna's home, where she is stationed for two weeks to watch over the 9-year-old, who has apparently done the impossible by not eating for four months.

The trailer then flashes through interactions between Lib and Anna, where Anna asserts she does not need to eat, but Lib is certain her life is in danger.

The Wonder is coming to movie theaters on Wednesday, November 2, and to Netflix on Wednesday, November 16.
