Origin
The Cylindropuntia tunicata, also known as the Sheathed Cholla, is a cactus species originally from Northern Mexico and the Southwestern United States. The plant grows best in desert areas and on rocky slopes at elevations between 900 and 2400 meters above sea level.

Characteristics
The Cylindropuntia tunicata is a striking cactus due to its height, which can vary from 0.6 to 2.5 meters. The plant has cylindrical stems covered with spines, which grow in protective sheaths. The flowers of the Cylindropuntia tunicata are bright yellow in colour and appear from late spring to early summer. Additionally, the plant bears red fruits that are attractive to wildlife.

Care
The Cylindropuntia tunicata requires very little maintenance, making it a popular choice among lovers of drought-resistant gardens. The plant prefers full sun and well-draining soil to prevent the roots from becoming too wet. The plant is drought-resistant and can also survive in poor soils.
