Cyclamen

The name Cyclamen comes from the ancient Greek plant name 'Kyklaminas' ('Kyklos'), meaning circle or disc referring to the disc-shaped tubers. A cyclamen needs to 'stand firm' for a few years before flowering richly and optimally. Propagation is by sowing, as soon as the seed is ripe. A cyclamen grows and flowers best in humus-rich soil with good drainage. Protected from too much cold in winter by low underplanting; 'n rest in summer (sun and warmth) and some shade from bright sunlight in winter and spring. The tubers should be planted very shallow (between four and ten cm deep) and in such a way that excess water can easily drain away. So plant the tuber at an angle, as it were. All material offered is propagated exclusively at Dutch and English nurseries. The Cyclamen are supplied in pots. This ensures easier re-growth of the tuber.
