Common Name or Meaning The Three Lobed Acostaea

Found in southern Colombia and Ecuador on the eastern side of the Andes in tall cloud forests at elevations of 500 to 1850 meters as a miniature sized, warm to cool growing epiphyte with ascending to erect ramicauls enveloped by 2 to 3 thin, tubular sheaths and carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, elliptical to narrowly obovate, subacute to obtuse leaf with the base cuneate or narrowly cuneate into a petiole and blooms in the summer and again in the late fall on an erect to suberect, loose, successively 3 to 9 flowered, racemose, to 2" [5 cm] long inflorescence with thin floral bracts. The major difference between this speceies and others is the 3 thick rounded lobes at the apex of the lip.
