Common Name Bathie's Bulbophyllum [Perrier de Bathie French Botanist 1800's in Madagascar]

Found in northeastern Madagascar in humid evergreen forests at elevations around 500 to 1400 meters as a small sized, warm to cool growing epiphyte with close set, compressed, ovoid pseudobulbs carrying 2, apical, erect, coriaceous, oblanceolate-ligulate, acuminate, gradually narrowing below into the elongate, attenuate-petiolate base leaves that blooms in the later spring on a basal, upright to arching, to 14" [to 35 cm] long, more or less recurved, densely several to many flowered inflorescence enveloped by many, cucullate, distant bracts and has widely elliptical-cucullate, subacute floral bracts
