Common Name Delavay's Habenaria [French Missionary and Plant Collector 1800's] - In China Hou Ban Yu Feng Hua

Flower Size 1/2" [1.25 cm]

Found in the Sichuan, Guaizhou and Yunnan provinces of China in forests, shady areas of grassy forests and shrubby grasslands at elevations of 1500 to 3000 meters as a mini-miniature to small sized, cool to cold growing terrestrial with oblong to ovoid, fleshy tubers giving rise to an erect, terete glabrous stem with 1 to 2 basal, tubular sheaths and carrying 3 to rarely 4+, dense basal rosette, orbicular to ovate, slightly fleshy, obtuse to acute apically, obtuse rounded and abruptly narrowing into the amplexicaul base leaves that blooms in the late spring and summer on an erect, 2.4 to 6" [6 to 15 cm] long, loosely 7 to 20 flowered, racemose inflorescence with lanceolate, half the length of the ovary, arisitate apically floral bracts and carrying fragrant flowers
