Flower Size 1 1/2" [4 cm]

Found in Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador and Peru in cloud forests around limestone on grass covered slopes, soil covered rocks or in loamy soil with full exposure to the sun at elevations of 2000 to 3000 meters as a mini-miniature sized, cold growing, tufted epiphyte, terrestrial or lithophyte with terete ramicauls with a single, apical, linear, fleshy, channeled, obtuse, leaf that blooms with highly fragrant, solitary flowers on a slender, erect to arcuate, 4" [10 cm] long inflorescence that occurs in the spring and summer and hold the single, fleshy flowers below the leaves.

The distinguishing features of this species are the short inflorescence holding the flowers among the leaves, the urecolate floral tube and the cordate labellum base.
